Fish Market Daily - Aberdeen Fish Market, Hong Kong

Aberdeen Fish Market is the biggest fish market in Hong Kong.
Every day, there are two rounds of fish landing from boats.
The first round is in the 'early morning', 3am, it is actually mid-night to us.
The second round is in the 'afternoon', around 11am.

Between the two landings, the fish market workers actually have not much to do, so they can just take a short break.

Workers were resting and waiting for the second round of fish landing.

This was the second round of landing.
The collector vessels started to land fishes and seafood.
All those white plastic boxes contained either fishes or seafood

Everyday there are so many seafood, in terms of quantity and diversity, transported to Aberdeen fish market, sometimes you can even see strange marine organisms.
For example, horseshoe crab.

These fish in yellow bucket were flathead grey mullet (Mugil cephalus)(in cantonese: 九棍).
The flesh of this fish taste bad, but it is quite sticky, so the flesh of the fish is commonly used to make fish ball, a common Southern Chinese food.

Po Toi Island is the southernmost island of Hong Kong.
Within this small island, there many interesting and pretty things.

Most people visit the island for the strange rock formations.
During autumn (September to October), here becomes the paradise of bird watchers.
Some rare birds (rare in Hong Kong) may stay here for a while, after a few days to weeks they continue to migrate to South .

To travel here, boat is your only option, please read the follow link for details
(choose''香港仔〈--〉蒲台島'' ):

Chapter 1 - Rock!

A rocky shore in the island.

After arriving the island, we went North for the Tin Hau Temple.
Tin Hau is an Chinese goddess, you can see her temple all around Hong Kong.
What makes this temple special is that it has a nice view. Most other temples are in the urban region, so it is hard to see a pretty view like this.

Rock lion is a decoration, which can be easily seen in Chinese traditional buildings

Near the temple, you can see the first strange rock, Snail Rock.

Snail Rock

The rock of Po Toi Island is mainly granite.
After thousands or even millions of erosion, the rocks obtain such interesting appearances.
After visiting the temple and Snail Rock, you can go up to the hill through a rocky road.
It may be a challenge to those who does not hike often.

An interesting rock without a name

After the rocky road, it becomes normal hiking track.
You will see various strange rock formations during the hike, and you will meet a junction.
If you turn right you will visit a Haunted House (which belonged to Family Mo),
and then return to the pier.

However, if you go straight (which I did), you will go to the South of the island.
Before reaching the South, there is a pavilion, where you can take a rest.

South of Po Toi Island

At the South of the islsnd, you can see Turtle Rock!
One of the 10 most beautiful rocks in Hong Kong!
And there is another strange  rock next to the turtle, the Supine Monk.

You will reach a large rocky shore, after pass through a small light house.
Here is the Southern most of the Southern most Island of Hong Kong!

The small building on top of the mountain is the small light house

When you return to the pier, you can see Palm Cliff, which is a lateral joint, and ancient rock craving, which is suggested to date back the Bronze age
(around 1500-700 BC, in other words, it is 3,000 years old)
